Excitement

This is an exciting time at work - fun time meeting with agencies, getting everything set for the summer. It is exciting to get everything done!

Jim started a new job today which is also exciting.

Jim and I are starting out....that is exciting.

Wow, I have a great life!

drinks

So, most people who spend any time around me know that I really like smoothies, fruit juice, veggie juice, any sort of mixed non-spirited drink. I think being married has ruined my radar for good ones.

On our honeymoon, I got a smoothie and it was gross....I wrote it off since I was still sick. Yesterday, however, I watched the guy make my veggie juice - I was envisioning fresh V8 - I could barely be nice - it was horrible. So I went over to the juice section of the store and while my husband was picking out his favorite bland vitamin water I found a tangerine spritzer that sounded good. Once outside the store and veggie juice safely in the trash, I opened the spritzer which was also fairly bad.

I like my taste in drinks - let this be a phase!!!!

Marriage Reflection

So, my robe needs to be thrown out. But I paid $40 for it when I went to college, I have wore it almost everyday since the fall of 1995. I didn't know it even looked bad until Jim's much newer, much fluffier robe came into my house. That is when I realized that you could see through mine in spots, that there were holes, etc.

I think in my short marriage so far with Jim but also in my relationship with him - he reflects me bringing the real me to the forefront. Sometimes that is good, sometimes that is bad. In the last couple months, he has noticed things about me that I just sort of accepted but I should probably changed. For instance, that I can't keep anything clean for more than 30 minutes.

By the way, the robe is in the trash - and the previously unwore black fluffy robe is now on my hook.

Top Ten

Top Ten Best Things About My Wedding Weekend

12. (I know I said 10 – but it is my list): Adrenaline! After being at the doctor’s several times in the previous week – resulting in a diagnosis of Mono or “the kissing disease” and practically sleeping all the time and throwing up anything I ate in the weeks before – on Saturday you would have no idea that I was remotely sick – until late into the festivities. Actually the cake cutting in which I whispered to Jim – if I eat just one bite of that I will puke.
11. Brenda Matthews. She is an amazing hip hop poet who wrote a poem for Jim and I and read it at the wedding. Way cool!
10. Peter and Liz. Our photographers were amazing! They let us be us and never were intrusive.
9. Tourism in our own city! We spent two days and two nights downtown going to all the touristy places and finding new favorites – a cooking light restaurant, the Soupbox (12 soups a day), and a place where CTA signs go to die and are for sale.
8. CTA between the ceremony and dinner. Jim and I along with friends and family went on the CTA with our suit, dress and just married signs on our rears. It was so fun!!!!!
7. Community Moment. Instead of a unity candle, we had everyone bring a marble up and drop into a jar. I already really like to look at it!
6. Our friends took us the night before to take care of us. Mom, Betsy, Nadia, Melissa and Chris (and occasionally Dad) took good care of me telling stories, getting me ready and making me less nervous! Jim was with Jim, Eric, Casey as well as Joslyn and Gabriel.
5. Pompei. My favorite restaurant Pompei provided a great though drawn out supper.
4. Room Service. Gotta love honeymoon room service!
3. Wedding Party Friday night – we had a big party with the church choir and Men of Destiny. Lots of great pizza, and fun and music.
2. Conservatory. We had our pictures taken at the Garfield Park Conservatory. It was fun to see other wedding parties…as well as get our families to this great place. The other highlight was Jim was super nervous and it helped him calm down before the ceremony.
1. Jim. The best part of the wedding was that I got to marry Jim! The rest of these are in no order!

Pictures are to follow soon!

I haven't felt well for the last week - I hate being sick.

Hopefully, today is my last day of feeling sick.

I love Trinity UCC. That is no secret.

Last night, I took a group there for Maundy Thursday service - it was 2 1/2 hours long. Way to long for the group - but wow it was amazing!

I have a friend who loves experimenting with food and recipes...so do I. However, I think I may have done too well.

I loved this barley stew and I would love to recreate it - but I am afraid I can't!
